Visions from Mannequin Camera #2

In my body of work "Visions from Mannequin Camera #2" I built an analog film camera out of a mannequin head as a metaphorical stand-in for a human: this object "sees" an atmospheric landscape that appears simultaneously familiar and strange. Rogue light waves entering the camera impress colorful blemishes onto the film which then become a legible part of a newly realized terrain. The photographs showcase recognizable markers in harsh horizon lines and ethereal fog banks but never fully reveal a fixed locality. This project seeks to produce tension at the crossroads of antiquated processing and artificial intelligence.
